| The Golden Globe Awards - 2007 | | Posted Monday, January 29, 2007 1:13:22 PM by Blog57 Team | | Winter in LA? At least for one night, it didnt seem so. Despite the unusual 45 degrees in the star studded city, stars chose fashion over warmth at this years Golden Globe Awards. It was a night of red carpet glamour from white flowing gowns, metallics, glitz, and Greek goddesses to, of course, the classic black. Jewelry was understated and limited to the basics large diamond rings, accented bracelets, and hoop earrings - so that, in the end, the fabulous gowns stood out even more. We saw lots of white and sexy backs dominating the evening, making it the new it style. Among the most popular designers throughout the evening was the always-glamorous Marchesa, being the choice of both Sienna Miller and Jennifer Lopez. J. Lo looked bedazzling in a Greek inspired black frock with a gold-embroidered low back, while Sienna Miller looked simply astounding in a white long train metallic-embellished gown.... | |

| | | Saving the best for last? | | Posted Thursday, November 02, 2006 11:34:34 AM by Blog57 Team | | For more than two decades, the Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) Star Awards was considered one of the most credible award-giving bodies honoring outstanding achievements in film and television. In 2004, the credibility of PMPC nose-dived as a bilihan ng award (award buying) scandal ensued that year. As layers of the scandal were peeled and dissected, no guilty party was proclaimed and convicted, which caused a division within the club. Well-meaning members of the PMPC bolted out to salvage what integrity was left in the small world of entertainment journalism. This exit gave birth to the Entertainment Press Society Inc. or Enpress, an organization of respected columnists and entertainment writers that gives recognition via the Golden Screen Awards. The GSA is patterned after the Golden Globe Awards in the US, and for 2006 it is the last to give its recognition of artistic and technical accomplishments of Filipino film artists.... | |
