The subpoena, which first came to light on the blog Google Watch, was granted by a judge in US District Court for the Northern District of California after being filed by the News Corp.-owned studio on 18 January. It is not yet known whether YouTube has complied with the request. In addition, a second, lesser-known video site, LiveDigital, was also served with a similar subpoena. A Fox spokesman confirmed the subpoena was filed to both YouTube and LiveDigital and served but declined further comment. A spokesman for YouTube declined comment.... | |

| | | John Katsilometes talks with the stars of the Fox News Channel team who visited Vegas amid a particularly busy news | | Posted Thursday, November 02, 2006 7:13:32 AM by Blog57 Team | | Fox News Channel anchor Shepard Smith visits Las Vegas three or four times a year, and this week he's back with his "Studio B" and "Fox Report" programs, which aired live from the Pure rooftop outdoor deck at Caesars Palace. Joining him was another Fox star, Greta Van Susteren, whose "On the Record" also aired live from Pure on Monday. The network was in town as part of a nationwide tour celebrating its 10th anniversary. "I think Vegas is great to kind of escape into a fantasy world," Smith said after delivering "Studio B." There has been no such escape for Smith and crew this week - dropping in on a story where a U.S. congressman who is a gubernatorial candidate has been accused of assaulting a Strip cocktail waitress in a Las Vegas garage has made that impossible.... | |

| | | Fox News Triples Its Fee At Cablevision | | Posted Friday, October 20, 2006 11:11:03 AM by Blog57 Team | | Analysts who had predicted that Fox News Channel chief Roger Ailes would agree to carriage deals with cable systems for significantly less than the $1.00 per month per subscriber that he had been demanding were right. On Monday trade reports said that FNC had struck a new deal with Cablevision, which primarily serves the New York City area, for 75 cents per subscriber, on the high end of many analysts' forecasts. While below Ailes's pricetag, it amounts to three times the amount that FNC had been receiving under its current contract and makes it the fifth most expensive cable network. By contrast, CNN reportedly receives about 45 cents per subscriber. Reporting on the deal, Broadcasting & Cable commented Monday that it "set the pace for negotiations with other operators." Nevertheless, the trade publication observed, "negotiations with Comcast, Time Warner and EchoStar will likely be very difficult because all three have been as willing to fight to lower programming fees as Fox News is to increase them." 17/10/2006 .... | |

| | | Fox News marks decade of success, rancor | | Posted Sunday, October 08, 2006 7:11:06 AM by Blog57 Team | | Love it or loathe it, there's no denying that Fox News Channel will mark its 10th anniversary today having made a profound impact on TV news. When Fox News began on Oct. 7, 1996, the morning after the first Bill Clinton-Bob Dole presidential debate, the network wasn't even carried in the media capital where it originated — New York. But lively shows of opinion in prime time and an undeniable tilt toward conservatism (cloaked in the slogan "fair and balanced") made it stand out against other broadcast journalism outlets that were either forever liberally biased or actually balanced, depending on your point of view. For many viewers, Fox News was a breath of fresh air in the crowded, often-stodgy world of TV reporters. A little more than five years after its first broadcast, the channel surpassed the established CNN as the ratings leader among 24-hour cable news operations.... | |

| | | 'Fox News Sunday' draws big ratings for Wallace combat with Clinton | | Posted Tuesday, September 26, 2006 11:17:07 AM by Blog57 Team | | NEW YORK (AP) - Political combat pays: "Fox News Sunday" drew its best ratings in nearly three years for this weekend's electric confrontation between former U.S. president Bill Clinton and newsman Chris Wallace. Both men's words were being dissected in the aftermath on Monday, with a Clinton spokesman saying Fox and Wallace had attacked Clinton with "an accusation," not a question. "I think the interview speaks for itself," Wallace said. "They can spin all the conspiracy theories they want." The Sunday talk show had its best ratings since the capture of Saddam Hussein in December 2003, according to Nielsen Media Research's measurement of the top media markets. It even out-rated the morning's dominant show, "Meet the Press," although the NBC show was displaced from its usual time slot by golf.... | |

| | | Fox has Phillip Island golf course rejected | | Posted Thursday, September 21, 2006 1:14:17 PM by Blog57 Team | | The Bass Coast Shire Council has knocked back a proposal from businessman Lindsay Fox to build a golf course resort at Phillip Island. The trucking magnate wanted to build more than 500 apartments and the golf course as part of a plan to attract more tourists. Council chief executive Allan Bawden says Mr Fox can either re-present the proposal in a different form, or appeal against the decision at the Civil and Administrative Appeals Tribunal. Mr Bawden says it was a tough decision. "By the time the council sat down to consider it tonight there was a total of about 117 formal objections, and in its current form the council felt that it didn't fully comply with all state and local planning policy." .... | |

| | | Al-Qaida Possibly Behind FOX News Kidnappings | | Posted Thursday, August 24, 2006 11:14:35 PM by Blog57 Team | | The kidnapping of a 2-man Fox News television crew in Gaza has the hallmarks of an al-Qaida operation, terrorism experts tell ABC News. The U.S. reporter and New Zealand cameraman were taken at gunpoint Aug. 14, and nothing was heard of them until Tuesday when a videotape and note were given to the Arabic media. The kidnappers set a 72-hour deadline for all Muslim prisoners to be released from U.S. prisons, and included exhortations of Islam and threats to infidels. Fawaz Gerges, a professor of Middle Eastern Studies at Sarah Lawrence College said that was a clue it wasn't traditional Palestinian jihadis. The rhetoric is vintage al-Qaida, Gerges said. This is consistent with what we have seen in Iraq and other places. Additionally, last March, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas expressed concern over an al-Qaida incursion to the Al Hayat Arabic daily newspaper, the report said.... | |

| | | Terry Fox Run alive and well in Stoney Creek | | Posted Friday, August 18, 2006 9:10:11 PM by Blog57 Team | | Stoney Creek Terry Fox Run participants and all the people who will benefit from the funds raised, can thank Laurette Travaglini-Carnegie for keeping the run alive - again. Ms Travaglini-Carnegie and another Stoney Creek resident Laura Snyder brought the run back to Stoney Creek in 2003. It had been cancelled the year before, after nobody stepped up to organize it. Their first year was the most successful Stoney Creek run ever, with 145 participants raising more than $15,000 for cancer research. The pair handled everything from promotion and gathering sponsors to run-day logistics and recruiting volunteers. Last year, three other local residents joined Ms. Travaglini-Carnegie on the committee. After a successful event last year, Ms. Travaglini-Carnegie decided to resign from her post as organizer, due to the heavy workload.... | |
