| | | Longhorns defeat Bears | | Posted Sunday, November 12, 2006 3:10:50 PM by Blog57 Team | | BAYLOR -- Texas freshman outside hitter Ashley Engle registered a career-high 27 kills, as the No. 8 Longhorns rallied from a 1-0 deficit to defeat Baylor, 3-1 (20-30, 30-24, 30-20, 30-21) Saturday night at the Ferrell Center. Engle hit at a .396 clip on the night, while notching 17 digs and leading the Horns to a season-high fifth straight victory. Baylor (15-11, 4-10 Big 12) used a 9-1 run sparked by a pair of Nicole LeBlanc kills to quickly gain control of game one . The Horns narrowed the gap to three on an Engle kill at the 10-7 mark, but that would be as close as Texas would get. Baylor pushed its lead back to eight on three straight Anna Breyfogle kills that moved the Bears edge to 18-10. Breyfogle hammered out six kills in the game and proved to be too much down the stretch, closing out the game 30-20.... | |

He said Leblanc and London mayor Ken Livingstone were the driving force behind the idea. "They made it happen. It is something tremendous. London is a big machine, they would have been ready in 2006." The 8km prologue will leave Trafalgar Square and end in front of Buckingham palace.... | |

| | | 2006-07 AUS overview and team-by-team analysis | | Posted Wednesday, October 18, 2006 11:12:41 AM by Blog57 Team | | FREDERICTON - When opposing Atlantic University Sport Men's Hockey Conference coaches gaze into the crystal ball for the 2006-07 season, they see Red. Consider: the AUS gets three of six spots in the Canadian Interuniversity Sport championship scheduled March 22-25 at the Moncton Coliseum. The conference is also representing the country at the FISU World University Games from Jan. 17-27 in Turin, Italy. "This is an exciting year for the AUS, no question," St. Francis Xavier X-Men coach Brad Peddle said.... | |

Istrouma showed the ability to run and pass in building a 41-3 halftime lead on the road last Friday. Notable: Acadiana quarterback Jonathan Morvant will be out at least four weeks with a broken wrist. Senior receiver Kip Jacob takes over. Morvant took over as the starter last year after Kellen Theriot was injured in the jamboree. Receiver Javinas Faulk strained a calf in practice Wednesday to add to Acadiana's receiver woes.
